The Insurance Information Institute (III), has made available Know Your Stuff Home Inventory, a program to keep track of your home inventory. This is great for insurance purposes and provides a place for serial numbers, replacement cost, pictures and other information. It's freely available and requires Windows 2000 or XP.

Windows Live Writer

This is a test of the Windows Live Writer, a blog post editor from Microsoft.  It works (obviously) with Blogger, as well as Windows Live Spaces (and others).  If this posts to the blog correctly, then I'm gonna give it at least a thumbs up.

Open-Source on-the-fly Encryption Software...

I learned about TrueCrypt up on my daily trip to the Tinyapps Blog a week ago today. It is one of the coolest free applications I've run across lately.
These are the most important selling points:

1. It can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk.
2. It can encrypt an entire hard disk partition or a device, such as USB memory stick, floppy disk, etc.

I created a 32MB encrypted partition on my 64MB USB memory stick.

NASlite File Servers...

NASLite is a single floppy disk based Network Attached Storage (NAS) Server Operating System designed to transform a basic computer into a dedicated file server. NASLite is intended primarily for use in a small business or home office network. By design, NASLite is a community file server and does not support features such as user management , the ability to join domains or disk quotas. However, it is very easy to set-up and use.
